Home Again, Home Again, Diggity Dig

Just hooked up the home computer for Mom and Sis so now I can enjoy the fruits of the internet.

Preliminary Top 10 of 2004 (off the top of my head at 2.27 am)
1. Arcade Fire - Funeral
2. Fiery Furnaces - Blueberry Boat
3. Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand
4. the Killers - Hot Fuss
5. Interpol - Antics
6. Kanye West - The College Dropout
7. Eagles of Death Metal - Peace, Love, Death Metal
8. the Futureheads - the Futureheads
9. the Walkmen - Bows + Arrows
10. Modest Mouse - Good News for People Who Love Bad News

Did that in 4 minutes so I doubt that will be the final. Nonetheless I think Arcade Fire is by far the best.

Too many finals, not enough ho's

I really hate having a final every day of the week. Especially when two of them are organic chemistry on two straight days. At least the semester is almost done.

Around my brain:
The Killers sound even better in my car.
Going to listen to "Wednesday's Song" today with Adam and Jerry for the last time.
Edgar Renteria to the Red Sox might help out both the Cubs and the Red Sox.
I hope Atlanta doesn't lose J.D. Drew.
How do I be a rock star?
At least I am starting to feel better.
Many other thoughts....

Not a few of my favorite things

So much studying to do, not enough free time. At least I got a start on my Christmas shopping. Now I only have to buy about nine thousand more gifts, so that should be fun. My throat feels about 6 times better but that could be because I am taking more meds than Elvis at the time of his unfortunate demise.

Jerry's Last Night

It's Jerry's last Thursday night, until next Thursday. So we're hanging out really hard tonight.

In other news:
I've decided that I have lost the ability to sleep through the night, and now I have to rely primarily on naps to survive. If I don't get that at least 1 hr. nap during the day, I'm pretty sure I would die. Furthermore, my throat mucus has changed from clear to greenish yellow. That means that I now have bacteria growing instead of a virus, so that's delicious.

To the Jerry Night.

I Despise Organic Chemistry

How dare you Physical Education McMahon!! You essentially are giving us two finals which will further sabotage my attempts to graduate!!! I spite you!

In other news:

The White Stripes DVD is terrific. It's filmed in Super 8 so that it looks like an old movie, pretty indicative of the White Stripes. The tracklist is pretty good, no "Fell in Love with a Girl" but that's not surprising. When I saw them they didn't play it either. "Death Letter" is terrific, as is the opening first three songs. All in all, a must have for people who like concert DVDs.

I've been listening to the Arcade Fire a lot lately; many people like it, just as many don't. Old Benedictine music critic says that there is no way it can be the album of the year because "they produce rock cliches, and they do the same thing that the Walkmen do, but not as good." This is a crazy man statement (coming from the huge Walkmen fan that he is). And while Bows + Arrows will make my year top 10, I don't see how it is as good as Funeral. I do think that the Arcade Fire sound like a blend of the Walkmen, Neil Young, and Beck, but Funeral is by far the album of the year in my opinion. There is not a weak spot on the album, and I would love to see the Walkmen write something as touching as "Neighborhood #4," which might be the emo ballad of the year if it was emo. We'll see how the list turns out.

Note to Self

Seven hours of sleep for a weekend is not enough. This is why your throat feels like someone rubbed sandpaper on it.

Fine Morning Thus Far

Devendra Banhart turns out to be terrific early morning driving music. Rejoicing in the Hands seems to be a pretty good album. I particularly like the songs with a little instrumentation, they seem more full. Banhart takes a lot from both Pink Floyd (lyrically) and Robert Johnson (playing styley). All in all, quite pleasant.

In other news: Ex-Girlfriend went on a date with a character named Brady. They watched "The Girl Next Door" at his apartment. That's terrific.

Just your typical tired day at work after the shin-dig over at Ace and Bobby's. Seeing Brian Regan tonight, I've heard from the family who saw him Thursday that his act right now is killer. I love his "Peanut Butter and Jelly" bit.

One of those news channels with the stocks scrolling is talking about the marital problems of Nick and Jessica. Is that really that newsworthy? Especially for a station like that. That's pretty stupid if you ask me, who really cares?

A New Leaf

Pizza and pop party last night. We tried to be as loud as possible and get busted by public safety only to have soda and pizza, but they for once did not show up. You can only listen to brutal songs at full volume for so long, so eventually a few of us headed over to Mus and Teddy's. For the record I do not recommend drinking so many pops. Drinking so many pops is not good for any part of your body, especially your stomach and teeth.

After some time at M&Ts we went back to Jordan and Justin's and watched Made while the Weapon of Mass Destruction did laundry. Then back to the Neuz for bed.

Ahh, sweet sweet bed. I have not had the pleasure of sharing a night with you for too long. This will be glorious.
