Join the On Means On Movement

First, it was Kevin Martin "on" Greg Oden.

Now, it's Nick Young "on" Fabricio Oberto.

Skeets addressed this before, but we're living in dire times, my friends.

These dunks are NOT on people.

They are near their victims. This does not negate the quality of the dunk, as both of these are nice dunks. However, they certainly aren't "on" the victim. Sorry, but it's true.

This, is on a person.

And this is how you can show your support for the On Means On movement:

on means on

Repost this (people love the Helvetica posters right now). Show your support. This is change we need.

  1. Since they are calling Greg Oden G.O. or go, can you have a on meaning on go?

Play the Pickup game? Well then... read http://www.pickupbasketball.net

Even with the last one: Samb was still standing under the ring. Tough to block a dunk from there, especially with an explosive guard at full speed. None of those are Bradleyesque.

What's good? This is the blog owner of You Got Dunked On. Again at You Got Dunked On, dunking on or over someone means that they either reached for the block or some part of their body made contact with the dunker. They have to have a chance to block the dunk as well.

With Oberto's, I didn't post that dunk because I didn't think Oberto had any chance to get the dunk and he was actually moving away from Young. In Greg Oden's case, looked like he had a good chance to block the dunk and was clearly going towards Martin so I posted it.

You are taking the meaning of "dunking on" someone too literally. It doesn't have to be that their body got in the way of the dunker, it also could mean that you dunked on THEM not their body just the fact that they tried to stop you from dunking by reaching for the block. So in my mind there are different levels of dunking on somebody. I hope that clarifies things from the You Got Dunked On standpoint.

  6. I think that's a fair assessment, but simply reaching for a dunk can leave people in a position where they can't actually influence the dunk.

Oden was close, but Aldridge actually got dunked on.

  7. Hell of a movement goat. We dont need kids growing up with posters where the defender is 3 feet away. On means on!
